Magneto To Get His Own… Something, In January

Marvel hasn’t released their solicits yet (usually they come out the third Tuesday of every month, otherwise known as yesterday), but some people have gotten a bit impatient and started reading Diamond’s Text List of what to expect. And what has been found, among other things, is that Magneto is getting his own #1!

The last time we had a Magneto story, it was under the Marvel Knights imprint and dealt with his time in a concentration camp, as well as revealed his “real” name, Max Eisenhardt, as written by Greg Pak. Since then, Magneto has not had any starring roles, outside of important roles in Uncanny X-Men, X-Men Legacy, and Avengers: Children’s Crusade. In the mean time, fellow writer David and I have been under a bet as to how long it’ll take before Magneto turns evil again (one that I am currently winning).

So what is this new book? Is it an ongoing? Is it a mini? A one-shot? Who is writing? Who is arting?! These are the questions we (I) wait for as we anticipate Marvel’s upcoming solicits. Hopefully they’ll be up later today and we’ll get some answers!

Update: The solicits are out, and it is a one-shot written by Howard Chaykin, with no artist yet.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
