Mark Millar To Direct MIRACLE PARK

Mark Millar probably won’t rest easy until he owns all of Hollywood’s superhero market. Until that day comes, though, Mark Millar is going to be making his own film as opposed to having someone make an adaptation of his work – Miracle Park.

Described as “Trainspotting meets the X-Men,” the movie has something to do with a mysterious testing facility and a group of animal rights activists (which sounds like how a different movie started). It’ll all be filmed on a hand-held camera, as Millar is going for the “realistic” feel brought by movies like the Last Exorcism and Paranormal Activity. It’s an ambitious project to say the least, one Millar is involved heavily with. His plan is for the teaser and post-production to begin in January.

Mark Millar really drives the nail home that he wants to be viewed as a “different” super hero writer, and with this movie apparently the word “hero” is a loose term. For the most part, this is a super powered District 9 (or as Millar said in an interview, District 8). This means one of two things – this could be either pretty good or really terrible. I know a lot of people have issues with Millar’s writing because he essentially writes Hollywood treatments in comic book form… but now he’s making an actual movie. Perhaps it’ll wow us all?

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
