When Marvel released the Avengers, a lot of fans asked: “Hey! Where’s my videogame tie-in?” Weren’t there games for Thor, Captain America and Iron Man? What about a game where you get all of the Avengers and fight accordingly? After all, a video game was originally planned to be done by THQ who held the intellectual property rights to an Avengers game, but THQ closed its studios. Where would we get our new version of digi-Hulk to digitally smash Chitauri?

Your answer: Ubisoft. Announced today through Marvel, Marvel and Ubisoft are teaming up to put together Avengers: Battle for Earth. The catch? It’s not based on the movie, but rather “Secret Invasion.” The game will feature twenty different characters like the familiar Avengers line-up as well as “fan-favorite super heroes and super villains” as well, making this game seem fairly similar in style so far to Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.

The game is set for release on XBOX 360 and the Wii, specifically for use with Kinect and Wii’s U System. No word on PS3 and PS3 Move users, but we’ll keep you posted on more news as it is revealed.

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
