Marvel Announces All-Female Avengers Team, “A-Force”, To Buy My Love Forever

Not to be outdone by DC’s big announcement that they will be revamping their line after “Convergence”, Marvel has attempted to outright buy my love for the rest of time.

Announced today on The View (which, as a non-American, I don’t actually know what that is, I just know people hate it?), “A-Force” will be a series tying into the upcoming “Secret Wars” as we see an all-female team take the place of the Avengers during the event. Now, that’s interesting enough in and of itself, but it gets really interesting when I next tell you that “A-Force” will be written by G. Willow Wilson and Marguerite Bennett and illustrated by Jorge Molina.

An all-female Avengers team written by two women? Excuse me while I vibrate into another plane of existence through sheer hype. Now, I know, I know, this isn’t exactly as big as DC’s whole line revamp, but out of the comic announcements today? This is the one that hit me right where the hype lives.

Now, there’s no telling whether this is just going to be some miniseries tying into “Secret Wars” for however long that lasts, but I know I’m on this train ’til the last stop.

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
