Announced over at Newsarama, it looks like Shang-Chi is finally going to get his chance at the big time this summer with his own story.

Apparently spinning out of “Avengers World” and described as Bruce Lee meets Jason Bourne, the book stars Shang-Chi as he goes on a question to avenge a former lover who worked for MI-6. Written by Mike Benson and illustrated by Tan Eng Haut, the series is planned as a 4-issue miniseries and will find Shang-Chi up against old villains like Razor Fist, the Sons of the Tiger and the Daughters of the Dragon in what sounds like a smorgasbord of callbacks to the original “Deadly Hands of Kung Fu” ongoing. So fans of that series, prepare to get your punch on.

The book launches sometime this summer. I’d wager we’d see a solicit for May, but we’ll see.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
