Marvel Concludes The ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Promotional Trilogy With The First Poster

We’ve seen the trailer. We’ve seen the introductory featurettes for each of the Guardians. And now Marvel has revealed the poster for James Gunn’s Guardians Of The Galaxy!

And if I’m honest? I’m not feeling this one so much. The “You’re welcome” tagline is a nice touch, as is the (intentional or not) usage of the same font as most Star Wars posters, but there’s something not sitting well with me here. Even though it is just the teaser poster and obviously there will be more in the pipeline, to me this just feels like some concept artwork for the film that they photoshopped Chris Pratt into.

Not the worst poster I’ve ever seen and certainly better than the overly photoshopped messes that were the Winter Soldier posters, but given how good the trailer was this just didn’t do it for me. Here’s hoping Marvel steps up their poster game in Phase 3 because they’re going to have to.

Alice W. Castle

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
