Marvel Decides Bringing Chip Zdarsky Back for an “AXIS” Variant is a Good Idea

Marvel has been dipping its toe into the Zdarsky pond lately, hiring Chip both to do an exterior for “Original Sin” #1 and interiors for “Original Sins” #5. Today, in a press release related to the “AXIS” launch parties in October to be held at various comic book stores around the country, a new Zdarsky variant was revealed for “AXIS,” a parody of the standard “AXIS” #1 cover, and boy howdy is it a wonderfully piercing little bit of satire that I’m honestly a touch surprised is going to make it out onto a Marvel cover.

For your convenience, we’ve cut it up to make the jokes a bit easier to read:

Oh, Chippard. You and your humour.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
