Due to requests from the fanbase, Marvel has recorded an experimental audio book version of Daredevil #1, by Mark Waid, Paolo Rivera and Marcos Martin. Up until now, a person unfortunately without site has relied on friends and family reading comics and describing to them the contents, but in an effort to make their books more accessible, Marvel Senior Editor and Awesome Man Extraordinaire Steven Wacker has put together a crew to attempt to make audiobooks of comics for the visually impaired.

As explained on Marvel’s site, writer Mark Waid provides full panel descriptions directly from his script on this audio edition, while Marvel editors Tom Brennan, Ellie Pyle and Jordan D. White lend their voices to Daredevil/Matt Murdock, Kirsten McDuffie and Foggy Nelson respectively, with White and Wacker also providing additional vocals. Marvel.com Video Editor Todd Wahnish recorded the piece, Marvel.com Associate Editor Ben Morse directed and Jordan White edited the final recording. The entire endeavor can be heard on Marvel’s site by right clicking here and clicking “save as”.

Daredevil #2 is on sale today, and will assumedly get a similar treatment. In the meantime, enjoy this take on the book, and let us know in the comments if you think it works.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
