At Marvel’s Next Big Thing panel, it was announced this winter will see a crossover called ‘Gang War’ unfold in the pages of “Amazing Spider-Man,” “Miles Morales: Spider-Man,” and several tie-in miniseries. The titular conflict will see the rivalry between various supervillains erupt into open war after an attempt on Tombstone’s life, with Peter, Miles, She-Hulk, Daredevil (Elektra), and Spider-Woman (Jessica Drew) vowing to take them all down within 48 hrs.
“But,” the official synopsis adds, “what [do] Mayor Luke Cage and the city’s strong anti-vigilante laws have to say about it? Will Jackpot [Mary Jane Watson] gamble on getting involved? And is Shang-Chi a friend or foe? They better all figure it out before two classic villains make a game-changing return!”
The crossover will run from December to March, with prelude stories in November’s issues of “Amazing Spider-Man” and “Miles,” and consist of the following titles:
– “Amazing Spider-Man: Gang War – First Strike” #1 (November 29), written by Zeb Wells with art by Joey Vasquez. The one-shot will reveal “what incites the war?! Who hired Shotgun and took out Tombstone? What, if anything, can Spider-Man do about it? Everything you need to know before ‘Gang War’ officially kicks off.”
– “Luke Cage: Gang War” (November 29-February), a four-issue series by writer Rodney Barnes and artist Ramon F. Bachs. Here, “a meeting with old friend Danny Rand” will remind Mayor Cage “of the good old days, when problems could be punched in order to solve them.”
– “Spider-Woman” (November 29-February), a four-parter from Steve Foxe and Carola Borelli that’ll see Jessica Drew confront her old mentor Viper, who “has engineered a deadly union between HYDRA and Diamondback that’s about to tear the city apart, bringing forth a new foe powerful enough to destroy the city.”
– “Amazing Spider-Man” #39-44 (December 6-February), by Zeb Wells and John Romita Jr. The first chapter will follow Peter as he brings together his allies.
– “Miles Morales: Spider-Man” #13-16 (December 13-February), by Cody Ziglar and Federico Vicentini. Hobgoblin will take center stage in Miles’s portion of the event.
– “Deadly Hands of Kung Fu: Gang War” (December 27-February), a three-issue Shang-Chi series written by Greg Pak, with an artist yet to be confirmed. The book follows Shang-Chi, now the leader of the Five Weapons Society, as he protects Chinatown, while using the opportunity to take out his family’s biggest rivals.
– “Daredevil: Gang War” (December-March), a four-parter starring Elektra, by writer Erica Schultz and artist Sergio Davila.
