Assuredly in anticipation of Captain America: Winter Soldier being the next big Golden Goose for Marvel but still hoping to squeeze out some extra money from fans anticipating the film, Marvel has announced that they will be releasing one of their digital Infinite Comics to act as a prelude to the feature.

Written by fan-favorite Peter David and illustrated by upcoming “X-Force” artist Rock He-Kim, the book acts as an intermediary between the events of the Avengers and Winter Soldier, as well as touching upon some of the extended Cinematic Universe stuff introduced in the One-Shot shorts. The Infinite Comic will find Cap and Black Widow investigating something referred to ask The Zodiac (introduced in the Agent Carter short), and it seems to tease that this will be the first thing that makes Cap wary of SHIELD. I’d imagine that the Zodiac will at least be touched upon in the film, but this will most likely act as a very fleshed-out adventure from what will be a one-off throwaway line in the film.

The Infinite Comic is available now from Marvel Digital, and assumedly on Comixology soon. Take a look at some Rock He-Kim art to get you excited:
