It’s been a long time coming, but we’ve finally got a look at the extended roster of “Avengers” Jonathan Hickman promised way back when in the Entertainment Weekly article that first showcased the major Marvel NOW! titles. While “Avengers” doesn’t hit until December, Marvel has given us a look at the interconnecting covers for the first three issues by Dustin Weaver.
It’s not quite the full 18 members that Hickman mentioned originally with only 14 characters on display over the three covers. Weaver confirmed via his tumblr that the full character list of those on the cover goes a little like this:
(From left to right) Captain Marvel, Cannonball, X-Man (he’s the shadowy figure between the legs of the two Captains), Captain America, The Hulk, Wolverine, The Falcon, Black Widow, Thor, Sunspot, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Spider-Woman, Spider-Man.
Interesting to see characters previously linked to the X-Men (namely X-Man, Cannonball and Sunspot) join the team in the wake of Avengers Vs. X-Men. Glad to see there hopefully isn’t going to be a lot of lasting resentment between the two teams.
