Last week saw the release of “Guardians of the Galaxy” #0.1, the introductory issue to the upcoming “Guardians” series by Bendis and McNiven. Giving us the backstory of Peter Quill aka Star-Lord, the prelude issue showed us his parents odd relationship, his violent entry into the greater cosmic story and set the stage for things to kick off next month.

But guess what! It’s not prelude enough!

As revealed at Entertainment Weekly (hat tip to CBR), the question to “where did Marvel’s Infinite Comic thing go?” is answered: in a new prelude to “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Launched today, a four-part digital prelude will give focus to different members of the “Guardians” to help flesh the characters out for new readers, starting today with Drax, followed by a story focusing on Rocket Raccoon, Gamora and Groot as well.

Oh, and did we mention it’s free? Because it is.

Head on over to your local tablet to grab your copy and take a peek below at what to expect:

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
