Does Marvel Studios Want Katee Sackhoff To Play Captain Marvel

So I don’t know if you know this, but I’m a pretty big fan of “Captain Marvel”. Kelly Sue DeConnick and her team of artists that has included Dexter Soy, Emma Rios and Filipe Andrade have revolutionised Carol Danvers as a character and have created a storyline that needs to stand out in comic book history as one of the most important moments for women in comics. So, yeah, I’m something of a fan and I’m a huge advocate of her inclusion as Captain Marvel in a Marvel Studios film. They’ve had a good track record with their portrayal of female characters with Black Widow having arguably one of the most important roles in The Avengers and Peggy Carter getting her own short film. So, why not have Captain Marvel be a woman? That’s something Marvel Studios president Louis D’Esposito, who directed the Agent Carter one-shot, has been thinking about, according to ComicsAlliance.

Now, what does this have to do with Captain Marvel? Well, as you can tell by the title, Katee Sackhoff has apparently been contacted by Disney with regards to her 2014 schedule as she revealed on a recent Schmoes Know podcast. That means, if Disney is interested in her for 2014 could they be looking to include her in The Avengers: Age Of Ultron? Well, they’ve already got one new female character in Scarlet Witch, it can’t hurt to include any more. And with Sackhoff being a fan favourite, including mine, for the role of Carol Danvers, it’s not hard to put two and two together.

Now, to sit with baited breath until some kind of announcement.

Alice W. Castle

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
