Yes, you read that headline correctly.

Because eight X-books (and one Ultimate book) are apparently not enough, Marvel has announced today that the X-Treme X-Men, a book born from the 2001 X-Men linewide revamp helmed by Chris Claremont and Joe Quesada, shall be returning for the current line wide revamp. The book, which originally ran 46 issues and featured a line-up of Beast, Bishop, Psylocke, Rogue, Sage, Storm and Thunderbird upon initial release, the book will a) assumedly be involved with “Avengers vs X-Men” and b) assuredly be EXTREME.

(Or maybe not. It’s 2012, after all; not 2001. I don’t think people even say “extreme” anymore.)

Marvel will reveal more at WonderCon this weekend, so stay tuned for a line-up.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
