Marvel Ushers In the "Age of Heroes"

Looks like Marvel will be kicking post-Siege life off with a bang, celebrating the new found brightness that is following Dark Reign with a four issue anthology series called Age of Heroes. Led by a writing quartet of Kurt Busiek, Dan Slott, Rick Remender, and Paul Cornell, this series will be comprised of standalone issues containing four stories – two larger ones and two smaller ones.

While there is a lot to look forward to, including appearances from bigger names like Steve Rogers, Spider-Man, and The Avengers, I’m personally most excited for the stories from Slott and Cornell. Slott himself has said that we’ll be getting an appearance by Squirrel Girl (why hasn’t she just ended Siege by herself yet?), while Cornell is returning to Captain Britain and the MI:13 in this series. That means we’ll get to see Pete Wisdom and the rest do what they do best: make awesome comic books.

Very excited for this one. No date was announced but if I was a betting man I’d say we’d be looking at a May 2010 launch.
