Marvel vs Capcom 3 Is Coming – And It’s Intense

I knew it! I totally called that with the success of Marvel vs Capcom 2, it’d open the door for a third game! Boy, am I smart! Just as smart as all the rest of you guys, really. And now the third game has been released, and it’s so intense that it looks like it’s going to have mass intensity in ten different cities. Yeah. That big.

So what do we know? Not a lot. The game will be titled Marvel Vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, and is the first MvC game in a decade (not including the relaunch of 2). It’s going to be similar to Street Fighter with 3D models fighting on a 2D plane. We have a small roster of characters revealed by two different ads (one pictured above), and as of right now Wolverine, the Hulk, Iron Man, Street Fighter’s Ryu, Darkstalker’s Morrigan and Resident Evil’s Chris Redfield are all entered into the fighting ring. That’s not all, though. If you head over to Kotaku, they’ve broken down both posters and given speculation as to who is in the shadows, and let me say that it is looking like a crazy roster. A lot of Capcom’s roster is really heavily played off of their newer games, but there are definitely a few classics in there as well – and as always, it looks like Marvel is sneaking Deadpool in as well.

Not only that, but the game promises to be very story driven. We don’t know much about the story other than the subtitle, but that’s ok for now. The idea is to have the game be a “living comic,” since story is important to Marvel.

The game will hit the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in spring 2011.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
