Marvel’s Herc Cancelled at Issue #10

As revealed in the latest issue of Previews and confirmed by Fred Van Lente on Twitter, the 10th issue of Herc will be it’s last. The character, who Greg Pak and Van Lente have been writing since Pak’s World War Hulk in 2007, has had his main title end twice now – once on purpose as part of the story, and once less on purpose (although it did get an obvious reprieve). The latest volume of Herc was rather different from the previous installments, however, as the humorous nature was toned down quite a bit and Herc lost his godhood as a result of the events of Chaos War, which was Pak and Van Lente’s original finale to their Hercules saga.

Now it looks like it’s just ending, which is unfortunate for fans but somewhat not a huge surprise. The July sales put it as the second lowest Marvel ongoing superhero book, with the lowest book being the final issue of the canceled Spider-Girl ongoing.

The final issue of Herc will be November’s #10, and when the time comes we will do as we have done in the past for our favorite god,

and pour one out for our homey.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
