Lee Harvey Oswald is coming back for round two. Via AIPT Comics, the man infamous for (supposedly) assassinating U.S. President John F. Kennedy is at the center of “Regarding the Matter of Oswald’s Body,” a new five-issue mini-series from BOOM! Studios. The series will be available starting November 2021, and is being written by Christopher Cantwell (“Iron Man,” “United States of Captain America”) with line art by Luca Casalanguida (“Lost Soldiers,” “James Bond: Hammerhead”), colors by Giada Marchisio, and letters by AndWorld Design. The first issue will also have a variant cover by artist Ryan Sook.

“Regarding the Matter of Oswald’s Body” follows a ragtag group of misfits who are brought together to solve a mystery surrounding the buried body of Lee Harvey Oswald – which may not be Oswald at all. As a world of conspiracies are unraveled, the group (composed of a car thief, a Civil Rights activist, a cowboy enthusiast, and a failed FBI agent) must get to the heart of the crime of the century, while on the run from the mafia, the government, and the infamous second gunman!

For Cantwell, the mini-series is an opportunity to explore his lifelong obsession with the JFK assassination. As a Dallas native, the stories and theories revolving around Lee Harvey Oswald’s actions have often consumed his mind. Speaking on the series, he said “‘Regarding the Matter of Oswald’s Body’ is both an oddball love letter and an offbeat elegy to the strangest, most wistful, and ultimately tragic elements of the state of Texas,” and that it has “a cast of characters you’ll love, love to hate, and be sometimes hilariously confounded by.”

For Casalanguida, who has explored crime and espionage through his previous work on multiple occasions, the series has him on the edge of his seat. “‘Regarding the Matter of Oswald’s Body’ is a compelling and exciting thriller than managed to pull me in completely as I was illustrating it, and I hope you’ll feel the same way when you finally get a chance to read it!”
