“Annihilation” fans, listen up: the folks who gave you the best Marvel event of the past decade are back, and they’re ready to do some magic at DC this time.

Spinning out of the upcoming “Green Lantern: New Guardians” Annual, Keith Giffen will be writing “Threshold,” a new ongoing series for January that Giffen refers to as like Battle Royale in space. The comic itself will feature two stories, the main being “The Hunted” illustrated by Tom Raney. The story features the Omega Men, Blue Beetle (somewhat confirming the rumor that the Blue Beetle book is canceled), Star Hawkins, Starfire, Space Rager, Space Cabbie and a new Green Lantern named Jediah Caul.

The second story, assumedly the one the attached picture is about, will be a back-up in the book starring Larfleeze and illustrated by Scott Kolins. It will be humorous, but focused on dark-humor, assumedly closer to the “original” evil Larfleeze and less the bonkers character he evolved into due to his greedy nature.

For more, there’s a big interview at Newsarama.

UPDATE: In the Newsarama interview we linked to, Giffen refers to the series spinning out of the “Green Lantern New Guardians” annual as well as ‘the last issue of “Blue Beetle.”‘ When the January solicits are released (which is typically on the third Monday of the month, which would be tomorrow), we will get confirmation on the status of “Blue Beetle,” as well as see if Rob Liefeld’s other predictions are correct.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
