Saturday at NYCC saw Image Comics roll up with a plethora of new books to share, as publisher Eric Stephenson was joined by creators James Asmus, Andy Diggle, Jim Festante, Kieron Gillen, Jonathan Hickman and Jim McCann for a panel that saw no fewer than ten titles announced.

Here’s some choice highlights, in no particular order:

Matt Fraction and Chip Zdarsky’s “Sex Criminals”, described by Fraction as “a comedy about sex, crime, and the fragile nature of the spacetime continuum.”

Howard Chaykin’s “Midnight of the Soul”.

Kieron Gillen and Ryan Kelly’s “Three” – a five issue miniseries based around the legend of the Spartans, but focussing on the Helots – the slaves whose labor and sacrifice made the Spartans the most feared warriors of their time.

Andy Diggle and Jock’s “Snapshot”- the first creator-owned project for the creative team behind “The Losers”. Originally published earlier this year in 2000AD’s sister title Judge Dredd Megazine, “Snapshot” tells the tale of a slacker who stumbles across the abandoned phone of a hitman, and this announcement brings Diggle’s cumulative total of books announced over the weekend to a bajillion. (Or four. Five?)

Jonathan Hickman had a twofer, with the previously announced psychotherapists-do-naughty “Feel Better Now” back on the cards, and “East of West ” with Nick Dragotta, which sees the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse decide to kill the President of the United States of America.

An Ales Kot double-bill: “Zero”, a super-spy book where every issue functions as a standalone adventure and is illustrated by a different artist (Riley Rossmo, Tradd Moore and Nick Dragotta are already confirmed as playing a part),

and “The Surface”, a sci-fi fantasy with “Get Jiro” artist Langdon Foss.

“The Life of Times of Bram and Ben” by James Asmus and Jim Festante, a comedic look at friends caught in a war between Heaven and Hell.

And “Lost Vegas” by Jim McCann and Janet K. Lee, a heist story set on a space cruiser that functions as one long casino strip.

More details on these titles as we get them.
