Pak and Miyazawa confirmed that they would miss the characters and world of “Mech Cadet Yu,” but that the the issue 12 endpoint has been planned since the title’s inception. “I’d honestly have been shattered if we’d had to end with issue #4 or issue #8,” Pak said, “but since we get to tell our whole huge story all the way through issue #12, I’m good with it.”
Pak also confirmed that “Mech Cadet Yu” has become his personal favorite comics project: “I love everything about this book. I’m not supposed to have favorite children, but I won’t lie — this is my favorite.”
The creators also offered a glimmer of hope for “Mech Cadet Yu” fans, admitting that they have discussed potential sequels and/or spinoffs from the main book, including the possibility of a Skip Tanaka solo series.
