MegaCon: Geoff Johns Confirmed For Aquaman Ongoing

UPDATE: Geoff Johns confirmed on Twitter that he will be writing Aquaman post-Brightest Day.

Original article: Reports coming out of MegaCon in Orlando right now are saying – supposedly – that Geoff Johns will be helming a brand new Aquaman ongoing once Brightest Day wraps. This is not ostensibly a surprise. In fact, I suppose many of us saw this coming. Given the “wrap-up” of the Aquaman story in Brightest Day, it’s absolutely fair to call that story “Aquaman: Rebirth” at this point, as it definitely ends on an open note just begging for a further series.

However, this makes Geoff Johns’ docket rather large, now featuring three of the main seven JLA members. Does anyone else worry that maybe Johns won’t be able to handle this, considering Flash was rushed into an event and then “ended” at issue #12? Are we going end up with a handful of Aquaman issues and then Aquawar 2: Electric Boogaloo?

We’ll wait until DC confirms this somewhere to call it totally official, but for now, we have two sources claiming this was announced: one and two. I suppose you can pre-order this along with James Robinson’s Hawkman book.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
