Apparently it’s official official, according to The Hollywood Reporter, as Michael B. Jordan – notable thespian of “Fruitvale Station” and “Chronicle” fame – is going to be The Human Torch in Fox’s reboot of “Fantastic Four”. He’s the only person cast so far, but in the same article they note that Emmy Rossum, Kata Mara and Miles Teller are set to have screen tests for roles unknown as well.

While we should be able to extrapolate that the first two are looking to be Sue Storm/Invisible Woman and Teller might be in as Mr. Fantastic (the article says that they did), the article mentions that Dr. Doom may in fact be a woman in this upcoming film and with Jordan playing Sue’s brother Johnny, maybe Rossum and Mara are testing for Dr. Doom?

I have no idea what’s going on, but I do know Jordan is a) an excellent actor and b) a great fit for playing someone like Johnny. In “Chronicle”, he played a similar style character (perhaps one with more emotional maturity), and I think he’ll do a dynamite job.

We’ll see what comes next but this ain’t gonna be your Uncle Stan and Jack’s Fantastic Four, that’s for sure.

It will be directed by Josh Trank and released March 6, 2015.
