Mignolaversity News Update Logo

Welcome to March’s Mignolaversity News Update, bringing you the latest solicitations and news from the past month. Like last month, the solicitations are at the bottom of the post. “B.P.R.D.: The Devil You Know” #5 had a twist I don’t want to ruin, and the solicitations for issue #7 assumes you know it already, so that one’s right at the bottom of the article.

Now, enough explanations. On to the news!

• The piece on the right, posted by Mike Mignola in support of #MarchForOurLives, will be featured in the “Where We Live” anthology coming out in May from Image Comics. All proceeds will be donated to a GoFundMe campaign for the survivors of 2017’s Las Vegas shooting.

• Roy Thomas and Mike Mignola’s adaptation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula hasn’t been available for almost twenty-five years, but that’s about to change. In September, IDW will be collecting the four-issue miniseries in a black and white hardcover volume. I believe there will be a color edition at a later date, but I’m not sure about this just yet. I’ll keep you posted.

• Mike Mignola spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming Hellboy film and his “Koshchei the Deathless” miniseries with Ben Stenbeck.

• Mike Mignola also spoke to Syfy Wire to talk about his exhibit at the Society of Illustrators.

• On April 13, the Society of Illustrators will be hosting a conversation with Mike Mignola and Karen Green, Curator for Comics and Cartoons at Columbia University.

• “Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.” artist Paolo Rivera spoke to Geek.com about last month’s ‘Burning Season.’ He’s also been sharing a lot of his process on Twitter and his blog. Check this stuff out, it’s awesome!

• And Ben Stenbeck spoke to Horror News Network about “Koshchei the Deathless.”

• We had a few things here on Multiversity Comics, just in case you missed them. Laurence Campbell shared his process on the “B.P.R.D.: Hell on Earth” omnibus collections. And the whole Mignolaversity team got together to talk about the ending of “B.P.R.D.: The Devil You Know” #5.

• And here’s the art for this month…

And here are the solicitations, starting with an omnibus coming in August…

Unaware of his role as Beast of the Apocalypse, Hellboy has his first brushes with the royalty of Hell and the otherworldly Ogdru Hem, while shooting out the Baba Yaga’s eye and getting a glimpse of his possible fate in the epic African adventure “Makoma.”

This 368-page volume covers Hellboy’s adventures from 1961 to 1993, leading up to Seed of Destruction. It includes stories from the Hellboy collections The Troll Witch, The Chained Coffin, The Bride of Hell, The Right Hand of Doom, and The Crooked Man, including “Heads,” “Buster Oakley Gets His Wish,” and “A Christmas Underground.”
