Welcome to July’s Mignolaversity News Update, bringing you the latest solicitations and news from the past month.

• It’s almost time for San Diego Comic-Con again. This year’s kind of a special one for “Hellboy” as it marks the 25th Anniversary of the series’ debut in “San Diego Comic Con Comics” #2 (which is why Hellboy’s on the front cover of the events guide this year). There’s going to be a print available (pictured left) limited to 200. Mike Mignola will also have 100 signed copies of “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” at the IDW booth available on Thursday 2:00–3:00 PM at the IDW booth #2743. You’ll be able to find Mike at his booth (#4901) during the convention. He’ll be signing on the Dark Horse Hellboy signing stage (obviously) on Friday at 4:30–5:15 PM, and there will be a panel, “Spotlight on Mike Mignola,” at 2:30–3:30 PM in Room 24ABC.

Conan O’Hellboy?

• This October 27 one of the Halloween ComicFest comics is “Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: 1953—The Phantom Hand and The Kelpie.”

Mike spoke to CBR about the end for the B.P.R.D. and Hellboy in “B.P.R.D.: The Devil You Know.”

• Chris Roberson spoke to Hollywood Soapbox about “Witchfinder: The Gates of Heaven.”

Fariboles Productions teased something. They’ve worked on Hellboy figures in the past, like this one and this one. Expect to see figures from both “Hellboy” and “B.P.R.D.” in the collection. The first figure gets revealed tomorrow…

• In art, Mike Mignola shared a few drawings…

• If you haven’t picked up the “Abe Sapien: The Drowning and Other Stories” omnibus yet, you should pick it up and check it out. Not only does it collect ‘The Calm Before the Storm,’ which debuted here, it also adds an extra two pages to Alise Gluškova’s ‘Icthyo Sapien.’ Readers of “B.P.R.D.: The Devil You Know” will like this particular addition…

• Christopher Mitten did a Liz Sherman piece.

• Like last month, Ben Stenbeck’s been sharing a bunch of commissions on Instagram

• Stephen Green shared a commission on Twitter.

• Brian Churilla’s been sharing a bunch of process pictures on Instagram. He’s also revamped his website.

• Sebastián Fiumara’s been sharing his inks on Instagram.

• And Max Fiumara has been sharing his cover process.

• Duncan Fegredo’s been sharing a bunch of Hellboys on Twitter.

In solicitations news, we’ve got a single issue heading our way in October…

Mike Mignola and Duncan Fegredo’s “Giant Robot Hellboy” wraps up with a bang (or should I say boom?) in this final issue as we finally meet the true titular character. And yet this story leaves a lot of dangling threads. This is clearly the beginning of something much bigger. As usual, this being a review […]
