Once upon a time, “Daredevil” was a dark and gritty comic about a brooding blind superhero who had the worst of luck, a litany of unhealthy relationships and frequent crises of faith. Now “Daredevil” is a more happy-go-lucky comic that operates as one-part fun comic and one-part artist jamboree. The book has seen several artists illustrate various issues, from Marcos Martin, Paolo Rivera, Khoi Pham, Marco Checchetto and most recently Chris Samnee. Now a new name joins the ranks: Mike Allred.

After writing a fan-letter to the book that appeared in the back of a recent issue, Allred has been tapped to join the impressive roster of artists who have given their spin on Waid’s “Daredevil” run in a one-and-done issue with #17. Allred, most well known for his seminal work with his creation Madman, has art with a distinct pop sensibility that will assumedly jive very well with Waid’s current iteration of the character, and editor Stepehen Wacker promises “plenty of sexy Matt Murdock, Foggy and the cast.”

You can check out the full interview with Wacker and Allred over at USA Today.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
