“The Mike Wieringo Tellos Tribute” Gathers 200+ Artists for ASPCA-Benefiting Books

In 2007, the comics world lost a giant in Mike Wieringo. Best known, perhaps, for his work on “The Flash” with Mark Waid, Wieringo illustrated books for Marvel, DC, Malibu, and more over his career, as well as launching “Tellos,” a creator owned series at Image in 1999. A few years after Wieringo’s death, some friends had an idea for how to honor him. Years, and literally hundreds of artists later, we have “The Mike Wieringo Tellos Tribute,” a two volume set of stories in the “Tellos” world that will benefit the ASPCA, a charity close to the heart of Wieringo.

The list of creators involved – though still not completely revealed! – tops 200 at the moment. The full list is below, but allow me to cherry pick some personal favorites: J. Bone, Mike Norton, Terry and Rachel Dodson, Andrew Robinson, Rafael Albuquerque, Karl Kesel, Jeff Parker, Gabriel Hernandez Walta, Art and Franco, as well as Wieringo’s brother Matt.

To fully ensure that the money raised goes to the ASPCA, these books will only be available once for sale. Both volumes are available for pre-order at the price of $50 each, with each book at over 200 pages long; vol. 1 will ship in June, vol. 2 in September.

The full talent list (revealed thus far) is below.

Wieringo might be gone, but this project shows that he’s far from forgotten.
