Via Forbes magazine, Mark Millar has announced his imprint Millarworld is changing publishers, relocating from Image to Dark Horse Comics. In addition to rereleasing Millar’s Image titles across new Library Editions, Dark Horse will publish five new series from the writer in 2024; one of them will be “Nemesis: Rogues’ Gallery,” a continuation of Millar and Steve McNiven’s evil Batman pastiche, featuring art by Valerio Giangiordano.

Millar states, “I’ve loved what Mike [Richardson] and the team have been doing for years and so many of my friends are over there, having a great time. I really just wanted to join the party and not only haul my massive, shelf-groaning library with me, but also commit to several years of really exciting stuff in the wake of our ‘Big Game’ crossover event.”

Richardson adds, “I’ve admired Mark’s work for years and I’m very excited to bring his Millarworld of stories to Dark Horse. Mark’s world-building and character creation has put him at the forefront of the comics industry and we couldn’t be happier about welcoming him and his team to Dark Horse. As a big fan, I’m looking forward to seeing what surprises he has in store for us.”

Incidentally, Millarworld is owned by Netflix, which has a first-look deal with Dark Horse for media based on their comics. While Jupiter’s Legacy, the first Netflix series based on a Millar comic, was a notorious flop, both the writer and Dark Horse have respectively enjoyed success on the streaming service with Super Crooks and The Umbrella Academy. Millar claims, “This feels like a partnership made in heaven already, and now [that] the [WGA and SAG-AFTRA] strikes are over and the pandemic is in the rearview mirror, we can start to roll out all the associated shows and movies at Netflix too. I’m buzzing, but this might just be the booze.”

Dark Horse will begin rolling out the oversized Library Editions of Millarworld’s titles with “The Magic Order Volume 1” on June 25, followed by “Nemesis Reloaded,” “Night Club,” and “Magic Order Vol. 2” that summer, and undated releases for “Wanted & Big Game,” and “The Ambassadors.” In the meantime, Image will release the trade paperback of Millar and Pepe Larraz’s “Big Game,” the crossover event that brought together characters from every Millarworld comic this summer, on December 20.
