Not content with conquering only the realms of video games, toys, novels, and collectibles, Mojang AB, Microsoft, and Dark Horse are teaming to bring Minecraft to comics.

Newsweek reports that “Minecraft Volume One,” the first official Minecraft graphic novel, will be the first in a series released through Dark Horse. To bring the blocky 3-D world to life, Dark Horse has enlisted writer Sfé R. Monster (“The Beyond Anthology”), artist Sarah Graley (“Kim Reaper”), and letterer John J. Hill (“Bedtime Games”).

“We are very excited at the prospect of bringing Minecraft to comics,” Dark Horse president and founder Mike Richardson said in the Newsweek announcement. “The world of Minecraft is vast with countless stories to tell.”

“Minecraft Volume One” centers on Tyler, an “everyday kid” whose life is changed when his family moves to a new town. To keep himself anchored to his old life and friends, Tyler embarks on Minecraft’s Ultimate Quest – a journey to the End, to face the ender dragon.

The lead book in Dark Horse’s “Minecraft” series will release in summer 2019, with a price tag of $9.99. For more on the book, including a look at six exclusive preview pages, be sure to click over to Newsweek.
