Well, this is certainly exciting. Home to many talented creators (including some of our favorites), Brazil has a thriving comic industry — and now, Monkeybrain is looking to really put the spotlight on that talent.
Announced with “Inkshot,” a new digital one-shot released through Monkeybrain, Monkeybrain will be releasing this digital comic that features 40 stories from a litany of creative talented, all edited and curated by Hector Lima. No full list of talent has been released, but some of the creators involved will include Danilo Beyruth [Image’s POPGUN], José Aguiar [Paquet’s ERNIE ADAMS], Milton & Felipe Sobreiro [Boom Studio’s C’THULU TALES, Zuda’s EARTHBUILDERS], Bruno Stahl [HEAVY METAL MAGAZINE], Gabriel Góes [SAMBA], Davi Calil [MAD Magazine], Pablo Casado [SABOR BRASILIS], Felipe Cunha [JESUS HATES ZOMBIES], Hector Lima [THE MAJOR], George Schall [DARK HORSE PRESENTS], Eduardo Medeiros [Marvel’s STRANGE TALES] and Estevão Ribeiro [215 Ink’s LITTLE HEROES].

Monkeybrain Comics is delighted to announce the impending release of INKSHOT, an anthology of Brazilian comics. Edited by Hector Lima, INKSHOT showcases the best and brightest new comic creators from Brazilian, introducing many of them to readers in the United States and elsewhere for the first time.
“The INKSHOT anthology is a great opportunity to get to know what’s happening today in Brazilian Comics,” explained anthologist Hector Lima. “The more than 40 stories form a rich and varied panorama of styles and genres, showing that the ‘country of the future’ is an erupting creative volcano – exploding with ink lava. It was a job for Chris Roberson and Allison Baker, explorers of the New, to make this find public through Monkeybrain Comics.”
“I love comics of all types, and I’m always on the lookout for something new,” said Monkeybrain Comics co-founder Chris Roberson. “Dan Goldman, the writer and artist of the Monkeybrain title RED LIGHT PROPERTIES, was until recently living in Brazil, and he was the one who first introduced Hector Lima to us. When Hector told us that he was looking for a home for an anthology of stories by Brazilian comics creators, we were already intrigued, but when I read the first few stories that he sent over, and saw the quality on offer, I knew that we had to add it to the Monkeybrain lineup.”
