More Batman News Arises For The Relaunch

The Batman news just keeps on rolling. Thanks to the continued exclusive hoopla over at IGN, we can now tell you about three more new titles coming from DC for the relaunch:

  • Nightwing #1 by Kyle Higgins and Eddy Barrows
  • Red Hood and the Outlaws #1 by Scott Lobdell and Kenneth Rocafort
  • Batwing #1 by Judd Winick and Ben Olvier

It continues to be an interesting line-up of titles. Jason Todd gets a title, but Tim doesn’t? Not to mention the really weird team there. (Also, is it just me, or does Starfire have more clothes on now?) Dick is back as Nightwing, assumedly due to popular demand. Meanwhile, the only continued remnant of Batman Inc. is Batwing, the African Batman, who will be written by Judd Winick of all people. I can’t tell if this will be a good or bad thing, as Batwing was one of the new characters I was least excited about. Regardless, having Batman Inc. still relevant is good.

Of course, here’s the best part. Fans of Batman Inc. can now stop crying into their pillows: Batman Inc will return in 2012 as a 12-issue mini-series entitled Batman: Leviathan by Grant Morrison and Chris Burnham. There. All better now. Issue #10 in August will be the “season finale”, and then the following series will act as the end to Grant Morrison’s epic 6 year run with the character. (source)

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
