Hey, we heard you like Jonathan Hickman and Avengers so we put some Hickman in your Avengers so you could Hickman while you Avenge…r.

As announced in a press release this morning, it appears that “Avengers” isn’t the only book that will have Hickman’s name on it because, like Bendis before him, he’s going two for two on the biggest “Avengers” titles in the line. Starting in January, Hickman and artist Steve Epting will be the new creative team on “New Avengers,” a book that has been under the hands of Brian Bendis since 2005 post-“Disassembled” (also written by Bendis). Not too much is said about the book, but at this point we’re just identifying all the “new” titles and creative teams we’ll be seeing — and we gather there’s going to be a lot of that.

Additionally, on Twitter Rick Remender seems to imply that nothing would be changing in “Secret Avengers,” as he still has work he’s doing on that.  No word on what is going to happen to “Avengers Assemble” or “Avengers Academy,” though, although some kind of change is expected.

Not only that, but sneakily announced in a CBR interview with Axel Alonso and Tom Brevoort, we also know of three additional relaunches: Captain America, Iron Man and Thor, all of which will (assumedly) get new creative teams and (definitely) new #1s. No creative teams there, but the article does confirm that not all of their titles will be seeing a relaunch, as “Daredevil” by Waid and Co will continue along its current path and numbering

We’ve also got a brand new Marvel NOW! press release for you, offering up a few new details on “Uncanny Avengers” and confirming Steve Epting on “New Avengers” #1.

So, for now, we’ve got seven new titles:

  • Avengers, by Hickman and Opena
  • New Avengers, by Hickman and Epting
  • Uncanny Avengers, by Remender and Cassaday
  • All New X-Men, by Bendis and Immonen
  • Captain America #1, by unknown
  • Iron Man #1, by unknown
  • Thor #1, by unknown

(Fingers crossed that Kieron Gillen stays on the Thor franchise.)

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
