It’s a smaller week than usual, but as always I bring you the Movie Round-Up! Oh, and to start it off? A picture of Robert Downey Jr being all meta. Like that? Yeah, I figured you would.

Ok. Enjoy the round-up!

  • So to start us off, apparently James Cameron and Marc Webb are having meetings about the next Spider-Man. To sum it up, Webb wants to steal Cameron’s new 3-D technology, and Cameron is ok with it. So I suppose Cameron is kinda eating crow on his previous Spidey comments, huh?

Speaking of, here is a video of Cameron talking about the reboot! How about that.

Oh… and someone else is involved with the movie. You may want to check that out.

  • As quickly as it changed, The Losers has been moved back to April. I’m not entirely sure why. I guess instead of thinking the movie was going to do well, the studio thought it needed to fix some things and now it doesn’t. Something along those lines. Oh well. Either way, I’m still excited to see this movie.
  • Speaking of, Sylvain White (the director) will also be doing an adaptation of Frank Miller’s Ronin (what, was Zak Snyder busy?). However, he says he’ll be taking his time. Go ahead, White. I never got into Ronin that much anyway.
  • Anthony Hopkins continues to make jokey little comments about Thor. This time, he say: “I don’t just play a father, I play the god-father.” OH ANTHONY!
  • In case you are curious, Splash Page has an exclusive piece from John Romita Jr regarding “the villains of Kick-Ass”. An interesting art piece if not a bit confusing.
  • Arguably the biggest thing that happened in the comic book/movie world is the announcement of the new DC Entertainment Executives, and Geoff Johns is right up there at the top. Johns talks about how he’ll be tackling the role, even stating that he’s been meeting with Ryan Reynolds to prep him for Green Lantern. Nice.
  • In a not too entirely related note, Joss Whedon and Morgan Spurlock are apparently collaborating on a ComicCon movie. Considering what most of us think of ComicCon, I can’t imagine it’ll be that good… though it could be funny in a schadenfreude sense!
  • Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay (writers of Clash of the Titans) will be writing a movie based on The Boys. Wow. And, to no one’s surprise, they’re going to try and get Simon Pegg to play Hughie. It only makes sense.
  • Apparently, all that Watchmen stuff was just a rumor. Fanboys – put down your pitchforks.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
