After a successful Kickstarter campaign, J.L. Westover’s celebration of cringeworthy situations is finally getting a hardcover collection from Image/Skybound this November. “Mr. Lovenstein Presents: Failure” collects Westover’s popular “Mr. Lovenstein” webcomic, celebrating “failure in all its forms.” The 200-page 6” x 6” hardcover will feature secret panels, exclusive never-before-seen comics, and an introduction from fellow webcomic creator Lunarbaboon.
“It only feels right that my greatest success up to this point is ‘Failure,’” Westover says of the collected edition. “This book proved that nothing is too big to fail because this colossal tome is absolutely stuffed with my funniest comics.”
The hardcover began life with a Kickstarter back in April 2021, which ended its campaign with $223,333 of its $40,000 goal. That crowdfunding effort would become one of the top ten webcomic collection campaigns of all time. “Last year, Mr. Lovenstein fans all over the world made ‘Failure’ an unprecedented success,” Skybound Senior Editor Alex Antone says of the campaign. “We are thrilled to keep the party going by bringing our celebration to bookstores everywhere. This book is for anyone in your life who has ever failed… even and especially you!”
“Mr. Lovenstein Presents: Failure” will be available in comic shops and digital platforms (including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, comiXology, and Google Play) on November 2, 2022. It can be purchased anywhere books are sold on November 8, 2022.
