Today is Multiversity’s 4th birthday. Hooray! This week also marks Morning Glories Week over on tumblr with the “Morning Glories” fandom, specially timed for May 4th (the birthday of note in the series). And, as everyone assuredly knows, we’ve got it pretty bad for “Morning Glories” here at Multiversity, so it only makes sense that we have our own contribution to Morning Glories Week.
So to help us celebrate, Joe sent over this inventory cover for “Morning Glories,” something that never made it to the final stages. It’s definitely a sleek cover and keeps very much in routine with Joe’s penchant for horror motifs within his work, and hey, who knows — maybe we’ll see it as a print or something someday!
Also, if you haven’t seen, Nick Spencer is running a contest through his Tumblr to get a role in “Morning Glories” and/or “Bedlam.” The game is as follows:
Today sees the release of ‘Image First’ editions of MORNING GLORIES 01 and BEDLAM 01. These are $1, full-color reprints of the double-sized premiere issues of both books. It gives you an easy, inexpensive way to sample the stories and hopefully come back for more via the trades or single issues.
Now, we’ve got a lot of great fans of both these books, many of whom are fantastic evangelists for them. And I already know some people are picking up multiple copies of these to give to their friends. Which is awesome. I wanted to come up with a way to make that worth all the effort.
So here’s the deal: the person who takes a picture with the most people holding copies of the Image Firsts of either book, will get a character named after them in that book. A good character, too. Not just a passing mention, I promise.
A few rules:
Pictures via Twitter or Tumblr, either way works. Twitter is probably the better way to go.
The deadline on these is June 1.
Don’t cheat. You have to have gotten individual copies for these folks, and gifted them. That’s the whole idea. It might seem like a harmless thing, but realize if you didn’t really buy the books and give them out, you’re blocking the prize from someone who did.
Hold onto your receipt in case you win, to verify the copies purchased. That’s important.
There can be more than one photo (meaning you don’t have to get all these people in the same room). As many photos as you need.
We’ll be using your (given) name, but not your likeness. And don’t get mad if the character dies a horrible death or turns out to be a dick. Those are both pretty common problems to have in my books.
I might add more rules if they’re needed, sorry.
I am genuinely curious to see how nuts this gets 🙂
