Popular manga and anime series “My Hero Academia”‘s first spin-off, “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes,” is receiving an English language release this July. VIZ Media announced they’re bringing the series, which began publication in Japan’s “Weekly Shonen Jump” in 2017, to English readers in the form of graphic novels that will release once every four months.

Set firmly in the “My Hero” world, in which superheroes are licensed, trained, and officially sanctioned, “Vigilantes” tells the stories of those heroes who, for reasons either practical or nefarious, operate outside the law. “But do they fight for justice in the shadows,” asks VIZ’s press release announcing “Vigilantes”‘s English translation, “or for reasons known only to themselves? Whatever they fight for, they are called … vigilantes.”

Written by Hideyuki Furuhashi and drawn by Betten Court, “Vigilantes” focuses on unlicensed teenage hero Koichi Haimawari, who goes by the superhero name of The Crawler, as he embraces his Quirk (or power) and begins doing good deeds in his spare time. But as Haimawari ups his game, he runs into other unsanctioned heroes, like tough-guy Knuckleduster, who want to do more than pick up trash and return dropped purses.

“Vigilantes” will be available in bookstores and online, via VIZ.com and a variety of e-reader apps. And if you want to get started reading it now, select chapters are available for free over at VIZ.
