As with Sigil and Ruse, Marvel is now bringing back CrossGen’s Mystic title. Originally written by Ron Marz with artist Brandon Peterson, the new title will be written by G. Willow Wilson, whom you may know from Vertigo’s Air book, with art by David Lopez. The book will star the original protagonist, Giselle, teaming up with her sister Genevieve as they inhabit a new world with new enemies. Calling it Mean Girls meets Les Miserables, Wilson describes the book as

The new “Mystic” is about two orphan girls who live in a poor area of this beautiful city, Hyperion, which is run on aether-power technology, which is somewhere between steampunk and high-fantasy. They’ve secretly been teaching themselves the Noble Arts, this kind of magical technology that powers the world, which in theory only the Nobility is allowed to study. In the midst of a revolution, one of them gets plucked out of her world and gets sucked into this palace world where she gets to learn more about aether technology as the Royal Apprentice.

While I myself never read the original CrossGen books, I will say that I’ve found Mike Carey’s Sigil to be rather enjoyable.

Also, to be fair, you could’ve figured this out thanks to Amazon putting up the collection edition. You should expect a Route 666 announcement soon.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
