Well, then.
You know, I didn’t exactly have what anyone would call high hopes for this series for a number of reasons. While I agreed with the idea to take “Hellblazer” and adapt it to a serialised show as opposed to another film was the best idea for an adaptation (something I’m also glad has become more of an option for these kinds of things), I was worried about the show being on network tv leading to a watering down of what made “Hellblazer” great.
And then, with the first look at Matt Ryan in the role, it felt too… clean? Compared to how I felt the aesthetic of the show should have been; somewhere between Supernatural and The Devil’s Rejects.
But that trailer? That trailer made me officially excited for this show. While I still think the show should be in London, I think Matt Ryan looks like a pretty solid JC and the supernatural elements look scary and disturbing enough to work.
Now, please don’t mess this one up, NBC.
