As promised, Bendis and Maleev’s new creator owned title Scarlet was revealed on Attack of the Show by Blair Butler today:
Without watching, here is the deets to tweet –
- The book is called Scarlet and will be about a brand new character named Scarlet
- Scarlet is a femme fatale who “will incite a modern revolution”
- This Bendis’ first creator owned title since Powers and is Maleev’s first creator owned title
- This will be in the vein of Bendis’ early work, i.e. Jinx, Torso, Goldfish, etc.
- “The fourth wall won’t just be broken… it’ll be smashed.”
Other than that, there’s not much here. Some cool artwork, some possible covers, and a July release date. It looks pretty good so far, and the bits of dialogue we see look ridiculously bad-ass. I hope this book comes out in a more timely fashion than Powers/Spider-Woman, but I am a big fan of Bendis’ work outside of the normal Marvel U and I generally like that more. His detective/crime stories are phenomenal, and I’m still trying to find and collect them all.
We’ll give all new details as we get them, though this doesn’t exactly explain the mysterious OX teaser. That could possibly be tied into this, and I’m willing to assume that is because if you go to jinxworld right now, the current teaser image is a quote that appears during Blair Butler’s video.
Either way, we’re stoked for new creator owned Bendis work. Here’s to lots of swears, strong female leads, and plenty of violence!
