New Comics Company From The Creators Of “Watchmen,” “30 Days Of The Night” And “The Walking Dead”

Have you been jonesing for some off-the-wall, out-there comics from legendary comics creators that don’t deal with your average ‘white guy in spandex beats up other white guy in spandex’ plotlines? You have? Well, you’re in luck because Hollywood Reporter has exclusively announced that Black Mask Studios will be teaming up with comic book creators like Alan Moore, David Lloyd, Darrick Robertson, Charlie Ardlard and more to bring us Black Mask Comics.

With one foot ever in politics and activism, Black Mask Comics is set to bring us comic books from legendary creators that will “push the boundaries of what can be done in comics,” according to company founder Matt Pizzolo.

The first book published by Black Mask will a reuniting of “V For Vendetta” creators Alan Moore and David Lloyd with “Occupy Comics Anthology”. The book will be a three issue miniseries that starts on May 1 and will explore the Occupy Movement as well as putting some of its proceed to fund Occupy activities.

The second book comes from Wu Tang Clan members RZA and Ghostface Killah and is titled “12 Reasons To Die” and to display the companies transmedia stylings will be told in part in the comic itself and in the new Ghostface Killah album. With a roundtable of artists including Tim Seeley and Riley Rossmo and hits May 29.

Then on June 19 comes “Liberator”, a four-issue miniseries about two vigilantes who seek vengeance for tortured animals. Written by dog rescuer Matt Miner with artist Joel Gomez, the series will put part of its proceeds to animal rescue servies.

And finally on June 26 Darrick Robertson, artist of “Transmetropolitan” and “Happy”, teams up with indie director Adam Egypt Mortimer for “Ballistic”, a acid trip of a buddy adventure about a air conditioner repairman and his foul-mouther firearm.
