We may neck deep in “Age Of Ultron” right now, but Marvel has already spilled some details to CBR about the upcoming event from Jonathan Hickman, “Infinity”. And boy, are there a lot of details. So what I’m going to do is break them down into a handy list format for bitesize chunks of information. And now I sound like an online education course. Onto the comics!

  • The event takes place over six issues. The first comes out in August, then two each in September and October with it concluding in November.
  • Jim Cheung will provide art for the first and last issues as “bookends”.  Jerome Opena and Dustin Weaver will be dividing up the issues in between with Opena focusing on the space story and Weaver focused on Earthbound events.
  • There will be six issues of “Avengers” tie-ins between #18-23 that will be pencilled by Leinil Yu (so that’s why he left “Hulk”) and there will be four issues of “New Avengers” tie-ines between #9-12. I’m assuming Epting will be handing the “New Avengers”.
  • We’ll also see “books as diverse as ‘Scarlet Spider’ and ‘Thunderbolts’ and ‘Wolverine & The X-Men’ and ‘Captain Marvel'” have tie-ins to the story. So long as I get to see Carol meet Thanos as Captain Marvel, I’m happy.
  • The story of the Event will focus on the Builders as the head to Earth, tearing apart the galaxy in their wake. “… expect to see the Kree, the Skrulls, the Shi’ar, etc…”
  • Actually, I’ll let Hickman explain: “On Earth: The Illuminati are big. The Inhumans have a big coming out party. In Space: All your favorites. The return of the Skrull Empire. The Imperial Guard. The Kree. The Shi’ar. The Second Annhilation Wave. The Brood. The Spartax. And then there are the bad guys.” Does that help?
  • Also, noting that Inhumans mention. Remember this? I’m just saying.

And that about covers it. For more information about the event from Hickman and editor Tom Breevort, check out CBR.

Alice W. Castle

Sworn to protect a world that hates and fears her, Alice W. Castle is a trans femme writing about comics. All things considered, it’s going surprisingly well. Ask her about the unproduced Superman films of 1990 - 2006. She can be found on various corners of the internet, but most frequently on Twitter: @alicewcastle
