Ahhhhhh!!!!

It’s coming! The eighth season of “Doctor Who” and the first one from showrunner Steven Moffat to star anyone but Matt Smith – the new Doctor is none other than “In the Loop” actor Peter Capaldi – will be premiering August 23rd on BBC America in an episode called “Deep Breath”, and with that announcement comes a new teaser trailer (above) and a new image featuring Capaldi’s 12th Doctor and Jenna Coleman’s Clara (below). Capaldi’s got a bit of a vampire vibe, doesn’t he?

The teaser itself doesn’t show much, but it does heavily insinuate that this upcoming season could be the darkest yet, with a rift being driven between the Doctor and his companion Clara. In the trailer, the Doctor asks Clara, “Clara, be my pal and tell me…am I a good man?” and her reply is the deeply foreboding, “I don’t think I know who the Doctor is anymore.” Chilling stuff, and when combined with the intense imagery, it looks like we’re promised a hell of an eighth season.

Naturally, with the regeneration and the way the last season ended, it’s to be expected that things could get a bit hinky, but darkness is coming my friends.

And I couldn’t be more excited.

Expect a review from Matt coming upon its premiere, along with gleeful comments from me.
