He described the studio’s plan to reboot the Kick-Ass film series with a new entry, but rather than retelling the story of Dave Lizewski, he hinted that the new film will involve the most recent iteration of the superhero, Patience Lee, directing fans to “look what Mark Millar is doing with the comic for clues.”
Mark Millar himself also suggested that Patience Lee would feature in the new film. In response to a question on Twitter about the reboot, Millar responded that “Patience Lee’s story takes place in same country as Dave’s, just in New Mexico,” suggesting that the film will be more akin to a sequel than a complete reboot.
Vaughn also stated that there are plans for a solo “Hit-Girl” film. Perhaps this too will take initiative from the character’s return in the ongoing comic that started in February.
As for the Kingsman franchise, in addition to the follow-up to last year’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Vaughn announced a spin-off to be filmed back-to-back with it, named Kingsman: The Great Game, which will be set in the 1900s. A film exploring the American sibling spy organisation, Statesman, introduced in Kingsman: The Golden Circle, is also planned. In addition to these big screen developments, an eight-hour TV series set in the Kingsman universe is being developed.
More information on the projects at Marv Studios will be released next week, when the full interview with Vaughn is released.
