I think it’s fair to say I’m Multiversity’s biggest fan of The Flash, even though my love for the character is pretty much singlehandedly driven by love for Mark Waid’s run on the book and Waid’s work with Humberto Ramos on Impulse. That said, Brian Buccellato and Francis Manapul did really exciting, interesting work on the book with its relaunch in the New 52, with Barry Allen becoming a more interesting character in their hands than ever, and with their departure, many wondered who may take over.
Now we know, as the the Green Lantern Corps writing team of Robert Venditti and Van Jensen are taking over the reins with artist Brett Booth starting with issue #30. I’ve heard good things about GLC, and Venditti is doing quality work over at Valiant with X-O Manowar, while Booth, who is maligned by a section of comic fans out there but I actually have enjoyed the past, is a good fit with his highly kinetic, energetic style. It’s a downgrade from Manapul, but honestly, who wouldn’t be? It should be an interesting team.
Far more of interest to me? According to the same USA Today article where this information was revealed was the fact that Wally West was returning in The Flash Annual #3 on April 30. WALLY. WEST. IS COMING. BACK! That, my friends, is truly stupendous news, and I really can’t wait to read his return.
