New Venom Gets AWESOME New Ongoing!

I don’t think I’ve been this excited over an announcement in quite some time! When I was a kid, the first comic I ever bought was part of Eddie Brock Venom’s ongoing. Since then, no matter what comic book store I had a pull at, I had an outstanding note on my pull to give me ANY book Venom makes an appearance in. Without a doubt, Venom is my favorite character of all time.

Then Marvel decided to go ahead and make my year. Officially announced, a NEW Venom is getting a brand new ongoing by RICK REMENDER AND TONY MOORE OF FEAR AGENT. I know we write a lot of news posts on this site, but I can literally hardly contain my excitement over this announcement. As it stands, a new Venom will be introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #654.1, which will feature a brand new character under the suit who has ties to black ops organizations and will be fighting crime as such.

As Remender states in the press release, “Due to the volatile nature of Project Venom, the Pentagon has come in and flagged some of my answers for security
concerns. [redacted], the enhanced, black ops agent Venom, is charged with chasing a trail across the globe to uncover the man behind a plot to sell the world’s dictators and terrorists weaponized [redacted], all while juggling a double life, and a growing addiction to a symbiote that is constantly trying to take him over.”

Venom has been a flat out villain ever since Spectacular Spider-Man ended the relationship between Brock and the Suit, stating that the Suit only bonded with Brock as a means to survive in order to feed off the excess adrenaline caused by Brock’s cancer. The suit moved on to Mac Gargan under the pen of Mark Millar and has stayed that way until recently at the end of Dark Reign. While Eddie Brock is off being Anti-Venom somewhere, it looks like Slott still has plans left for the symbiote group, and with a new Carnage arriving soon, it only stands to reason we’ll get a new Venom. The fact that we are undoubtedly getting a supremely bad-ass Venom now is too exciting to put into words.

Seriously though – Tony Moore and rick Remender? I couldn’t be more excited. So – who gets the suit? Speculation begins now! Check out Marvel.com for the official press release.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
