Ninjak Returns To Valiant In September!

We got a visual tease for you today straight from the fine folks at the relaunched Valiant Entertainment. The above image arrived in our inboxes with the words “The hunt begins this September.”, featuring a katana blade through XO Manowar’s helmet, signifies the return of Ninjak to the Valiantverse.

“Ninjak?” you ask. “Who is Ninjak?” I’ll tell you: Ninjak was the star of his eponymous Valiant title, which debuted in 1994 with a super shiny foil cover at comic stores everywhere. Written by Mark Moretti and illustrated by some artist named Joe Quesada (whatever happened to that guy?), it was about a British ninja spy named Colin King, alias Ninjak, who was trained in martial arts and espionage. It lasted until 1996 when Valiant was bought by Acclaim and the series was redone by Kurt Busiek, ending in 1997.

Either way, I don’t know about you. I won a copy of the sold-out #1 comic from my local shop in ’94 in a silly contest and took it home because it was shiny and had a ninja on the cover. Still an excellent decision to this day.

Matthew Meylikhov

Once upon a time, Matthew Meylikhov became the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Multiversity Comics, where he was known for his beard and fondness for cats. Then he became only one of those things. Now, if you listen really carefully at night, you may still hear from whispers on the wind a faint voice saying, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine is not as bad as everyone says it issss."
