Image Comics have announced “Nomen Omen,” a supernatural 15-issue maxiseries from writer and RPG creator Marco B. Bucci (“Magna Veritas,” “Memento Mori”) and artist Jacopo Camagni (“X-Men Blue,” “Deadpool the Duck”). The comic, which begins in October, follows Becky Kumar, a geeky 20-year old from New York who crosses from our realm into another one of “otherworldly truths.” The official synopsis states, “no matter how fast you run, sooner or later your past will catch up with you.”

Bucci said, “This is not a comic book, this is a ritual. It’s a story no one can protect you from. But don’t be scared: there’s power in names and by reading our book you’ll get a glimpse of how it works.” Camagni added, “Witchcraft, loss, and inclusiveness: these are the three cornerstones of our story. Magic belongs to all of us, even to those who reject it.”

“Nomen Omen” #1 will be released in comic book shops on October 2, and it will come with variant covers by Olivier Coipel, and Becky Cloonan (who is a friend of Bucci and Camagni, one who inspired Becky’s name and appearance). This is the second Italian comics series announced by Image ahead of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, following the news the publisher would release Mirka Andolfo’s “Mercy” in English next year.
