Eisner-nominated creative team Cat Seaton and Kit Seaton are returning for the second entry in their “Norroway” graphic novel trilogy. The series is a light-hearted retelling of Scottish folklore centered around adventurer Sibylla, as she traverses the world of myth and folklore, looking to break a curse over the land.

“The Queen on the High Mountain” jumps forward seven years from the first entry in the series “The Black Bull of Norroway,” with Sibylla finally forced to live up to her destiny. Alongside this, she will being going up against the increasingly aggressive forces of the Troll Kingdom, who imprison her on Glass Mountain in the lead up to an auspicious royal wedding that she must ruin if she wants to live.

“In this book we really start to break free of the mold of the original fairy tale; most of the set up has happened, and now we’re seeing the payoff, and the consequences,” said Cat Seaton. “Canonically, it’s seven years between the lead character’s fall down the mountain and her climb back up. In the original fairy tale you have a girl who waited. With Sibylla, she stopped waiting. She moved on. And then her past came knocking.”

“I’m really thrilled to showcase an older, wizened, more grizzled Sibylla,” said Kit Seaton. “Plus there’s a new cast of characters who will add depth, as well as twists and turns to the narrative. We’ve really taken the story to new heights (pun intended) and can’t wait to show readers this widened view of the world of ‘Norroway.'”

“Norroway, Book Two: The Queen on the High Mountain” releases digitally and in comic shops on August 26 and in bookstores on September 1.
