During Dan DiDio and Jim Lee’s DC publisher panel at New York Comic Con, Grant Morrison appeared with the announcement that he will be co-writing “Sideways,” an upcoming ‘Dark Matter’ title with DiDio and Justin Jordan (“Green Lantern: New Guardians”). “Sideways,” which was announced back in April, will be illustrated by Kenneth Rocafort (“Action Comics”), and is about a teenager who gains the power to teleport after coming into contact with dark matter.
DiDio reached out to Morrison to co-write some issues of the forthcoming series, and he agreed, explaining, “I think it’s important that the DC Universe is crafted over decades. I think it’s super important to acknowledge that there are corners of this universe where your favorite characters have never gone. So that’s what the world I’m doing with Dan on ‘Sideways’ is really trying to do.”
Morrison also spoke about the sequel to “Wonder Woman: Earth One,” which he compared to The Empire Strikes Back. He then answered a fan query about whether or not there’ll be another “Seaguy” series, replying that he wrote the script three years ago but Cameron Stewart hasn’t found time to draw it yet.
Other details from the publishers’ panel included confirmation, after a tease at San Diego Comic Con, that Vertigo will be relaunched in August 2018, to coincide with the imprint’s 25th anniversary, and that Francis Manapul is still attached to “Aquaman: Earth One.” For more on the panel, head on over to Newsarama.
