Games Workshop and Marvel Comics have announced that they have entered a new publishing partnership, with the first comics set to be released being based on Warhammer. The license to publish Warhammer comics had previously been held by Titan Comics.

Artist's impression of readers

Details about the Warhammer comics, beside having a release date scheduled for Fall 2020, were kept a secret. Games Workshop did release their artist’s impression (as seen on the left) of how a reader will look reading the new comics, adding that the power armour is “optional.”

For those unfamiliar with Games Workshop and Warhammer, Games Workshop is a British miniature wargame manufacturing company, with Warhammer being one of its properties. Games Workshop also produces The Middle Earth Strategy Game which is based on both The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movie trilogies and their source material, J. R. R. Tolkien’s novels. Warhammer is a fantasy based miniature wargame which was created by Rick Priestley and then sold to Games Workshop. The first edition of the game was released in 1983, with the final edition released in July 2010. It has been succeeded by Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, which is set in the same fictional world but has a different aesthetic. Warhammer also has a sibling wargame, Warhammer 40,000 which is set into the distant future and features humans, aliens and supernatural creatures.
